Deck Builders in Colorado

A deck in Colorado starts with a permit question, and the answer depends on where you live. Denver requires a zoning permit for an uncovered deck 12 inches or more off the ground and a building permit once it reaches 30 inches. Covered decks, patios and pergolas in Denver need both. In the Pikes Peak region and in Fort Collins, the only decks exempt from a permit are small detached ones: 200 square feet or less, no more than 30 inches above grade, and not serving the required exit door.

Footings mean digging, and Colorado law requires contacting Colorado 811 at least three business days before you dig. In wildfire country, the Colorado State Forest Service suggests screening the space under a deck with 1/8-inch metal mesh and keeping firewood off the deck and out from under it.

The companies below build decks, according to their own websites or Maps listings. Ask each one who pulls the permit and who calls in the inspections.
